THE MUSIC OF THE LAST EDGE

Project music lead Mark Donaldson presents The Last Edge Suite.

Using story and character notes as a starting point, Mark has created a suite of music that brings the world of The Last Edge vividly to life.

The suite captures the mystery and high adventure of the story perfectly; the overture’s opening chords and uilleann pipes evoking the storm-tossed oceans and rugged islands of Pamarthe, before giving way to an up-tempo adventure theme that owes as much to James Bond as it does to Han Solo. This is a decidedly Anglo-Celtic take on the galaxy far, far away.

In the Wagnerian tradition repopularised by John Williams, the suite draws motifs and themes out from the overture, resulting in some thirty minutes of music that is as technically coherent as it is emotionally satisfying.

As the music has developed it has had a profound impact on character and story direction, making The Last Edge a genuinely collaborative creative process.
